Congratulations to second year internal medicine resident Dr. Anusha Nallaparaju whose clinical vignette “Laughter, The Best Medicine,” which focused on gelastic syncope, a rare type of seizure induced by laughter, was selected for presentation at the American College of Physicians (ACP) 2014 Internal Medicine meeting in Orlando, Florida earlier this month. At the conference, Dr. Nallaparaju was also recognized as an ACP Young Achiever.

 


Congratulations to second year internal medicine resident, Dr. Shohala Numaira, whose abstract titled “Massive Coronary Aneurysms, and Unusual Finding in Association with Acromegaly” has been accepted for presentation at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) 23rd Annual Scientific and Clinical Congress in Las Vegas, Nevada in May.

 

 

 


Congratulations to second year internal medicine resident, Dr. Thankam Nair, whose clinical vignette entitled “Nontraumatic, Bilateral Chylothrax Associated with an Undifferentiated Lymphoproliferative Disorder Resolved with Rituximab Treatment” has been selected for a poster presentation at the 2014 American Thoracic Society (ATS) International Conference in San Diego, California in May.

 

 

 


New Class of Internal Medicine Residents

Eight new doctors will be coming to Baton Rouge General Medical Center’s campuses to complete residency training in internal medicine. Each year, Baton Rouge General trains a total of approximately 500 medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and radiation technologists.

“Baton Rouge General’s new physician residents represent the top medical talent selected among thousands of candidates nationwide and we are pleased to continue to expand our medical training programs with the addition of this year’s class of residents,” noted Dr. Floyd Roberts, Baton Rouge General’s Chief Medical Officer and Dean for Tulane University School of Medicine’s satellite campus at Baton Rouge General.
