BRG Announces Largest Graduating Class from School of Radiologic Technology in Five Years

Baton Rouge, La. – Last week, Baton Rouge General’s School of Radiologic Technology (SORT) graduated its largest class in five years. Fourteen new radiologic technologists in the Class of 2017 join a group of nearly 300 talented “rad techs” who have completed BRG’s program. Rad techs perform diagnostic imaging exams, administer radiation therapy treatments, and are educated in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, radiation protection and basic patient care.

For the past three years, BRG’s program has met or exceeded the American Registry of Radiologic Technology certification exam first-time pass rate and national average score, once achieving a perfect score. Rad tech graduates are employed in various industries and cross-trained in advanced technologies such as CT, MRI, Mammography and Heart Catheterization and Intervention. For the past three years, BRG has attained 100% job placement of graduates within six months of program completion.

“Our faculty is incredibly proud of this award-winning class’s many accomplishments – from being honored at state and national levels to completing at least one service project each month,” said Jaclyn Verret-Peters, MSRS, ARRT RT, SORT Program Director at BRG. “It’s an honor to welcome such passionate and intelligent professionals to the radiologic technology community.”

Verret-Peters delivered the commencement address at the December 1 ceremony and presented the students’ diplomas and pins with Carol Tingle, PhD, MSN, RN, who oversees the program.
