ACA Deadline Nears, BRG Enrollment Assistance Reaches More Than 1,400 Residents

Baton Rouge, La. – With only three days left to enroll in an Affordable Care Act (ACA) health plan, Baton Rouge General is encouraging residents to visit its campuses to receive free assistance enrolling in an ACA insurance plan for the first time, or exploring their options if they already have a plan. Open enrollment ends this Sunday, Feb. 15.

Trained navigators are available until 9 p.m. tonight and tomorrow, Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Baton Rouge General’s Bluebonnet and Mid City campuses in the main lobby areas. The navigators are available to help individuals of any age understand their options, determine eligibility and financial assistance levels, and complete and submit their applications.

Individuals must bring a valid ID and income information, such as a recent pay stub, with them. Complimentary valet parking is available at the main hospital entrances of both campuses.

Through Baton Rouge General’s efforts, a total of 1,471 community members have engaged with a trained navigator and 552 individuals have enrolled in a plan. Baton Rouge General began this free service in December to respond to the community’s needs and help residents’ access health coverage.

If you can afford health insurance coverage in 2015, but don’t sign up, you may have to pay a penalty – $325 per adult, $162.50 per child under the age of 18, or two percent of your family income, whichever is higher.
