New Orleans Chef Serves a Healthy Dose of Inspiration at Baton Rouge General Event

Baton Rouge, La. – New Orleans Chef John Besh takes center stage at Baton Rouge General’s healthy living event Life’s a Canvas: The Art of Healthy Living, on Thursday, October 22, at 6:30 p.m.

Amid an atmosphere of twinkling lights, live music and delicious hors d’oeuvres, Besh will inspire guests to incorporate a healthy diet into their lifestyles. He will perform a cooking demonstration and an interactive culinary activity to show that healthy eating is not just smart, but delicious, too! Physicians and wellness experts will also be on hand to answer questions and discuss overall wellness, which includes regular exercise and routine visits to a primary care physician. Life’s a Canvas will be emceed by WAFB-TV’s Johnny Ahysen and Elizabeth Vowell. The event is free, but space is limited.

“I’m really excited to be able to share a night of food and fun at Baton Rouge General,” said Besh. “I love home cooking and I enjoy showing others how to put good, fresh, healthy food on the table for their families.”

“Eating well is one of the best things we can do to reduce the risk of illness or chronic disease,” said Mark Slyter, Baton Rouge General President and CEO. “Chef John Besh’s focus on everyday cooking can help us enjoy Louisiana cuisine while still making health our top priority.”

Besh is the owner of 12 restaurants, including August, Domencia, La Provence, Shaya and Willa Jean. His nonprofit organization, the John Besh Foundation, works to protect and preserve the culinary heritage of the Crescent City and the Gulf Coast.
