Provider Resources

We know you're working hard to provide the highest level of care for your patients, and with 40 years of experience in treating burn patients, we’re here to offer support services to you and your staff.

Our Burn Center’s comprehensive burn care program consists of an acute adult unit, an acute pediatric unit and an outpatient burn clinic. Led by experienced burn surgeons, our interdisciplinary care teams are made up of highly trained specialty nurses, dietitians, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation therapists and social workers.

We know your community looks to you to provide emergency burn care, and because of this, you're a vital part of our healthcare network. You are often the first point-of-care for your community and we want to do what we can to ensure your team is well-versed in the latest procedures in burn stabilization and treatment. Please post this Emergency Burn Care Poster in your ER and encourage your staff to become familiar with these treatment guidelines. If you would like a complimentary, full-size poster, we're happy to send you one.

While burns are probably not your most common cases, they often require specialized treatment. If you are interested in having our burn care team visit your facility to conduct on-site training for your staff regarding stabilization for all types of burn injuries, please email us at or call (225) 387-7717. We are committed to providing the best burn care for our community and yours. If there is anything we can do to help you and your staff better serve your patients, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Transferring and Referring Patients to the Burn Unit

When you have a patient who requires treatment by Baton Rouge General's Inpatient or Outpatient Burn Center, please call us at (225) 387-7717. We will review the case over the phone and help you properly assess your patient's case to determine whether your patient would be best served through inpatient or outpatient.

For the safety and convenience of your patients, you must confirm referral acceptance by phone with us before transferring any burn patients (inpatient or outpatient). If we recommend your patient be treated through our Outpatient Burn Clinic, we will ask you to fill out an outpatient referral instruction sheet.
