IBEW Raises $15,000 for Baton Rouge General Regional Burn Center Patients

Baton Rouge, La. – Thanks to donations from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW Local #995), twelve young survivors of burn injuries will be able to attend a special camp this year. IBEW raised $15,000 at an April golf tournament at Copper Mill for children at Baton Rouge General Regional Burn Center.

Since 2005, the IBEW has raised $123,500 to support the General’s Regional Burn Center, and group members travel to the statewide “I’m Still Me” camp each year to grill hamburgers for campers. The burn camp allows children who have survived burn injuries to spend time with other survivors, building self-esteem and supporting emotional healing.

“IBEW is a long-time supporter of our Regional Burn Center,” said Mark Slyter, President and CEO of Baton Rouge General. “IBEW members not only give to patients monetarily, but also devote time and effort by visiting ‘I’m Still Me’ campers each year. Their generosity to children recovering from burns is unparalleled.”

Among the Regional Burn Center’s offerings are support groups, counseling and educational resources. Learn more about the BRG Regional Burn Center’s resources and team of experts by visiting here or by contacting (225) 387-7717 or Burn@BRGeneral.org.
