BATON ROUGE, La. – Tomorrow, Baton Rouge General (BRG) will celebrate the opening of its newest Express Care clinic, near the south gates of LSU, in the Highland Village shopping center at 4410 Highland Rd. The grand opening celebration will be held at 9 a.m. at the clinic with BRG representatives in attendance, followed by a walk-through tour of the new clinic.

BRG Express Care is now open 7 days a week and treats serious, but non-life threatening illnesses and injuries, including sprains, minor cuts and burns, allergic reactions, sinus infections, earaches and fever. The clinic also features a lab, X-ray machine and an EKG for more serious injuries. It is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

“When you’re sick, you want care that is fast, convenient and affordable. And you want it delivered with compassion,” said Edgardo Tenreiro, President and CEO of Baton Rouge General. “Our Express Care team is grateful for the opportunity to serve the urgent care needs of those who live, work, play and learn around and on LSU’s campus. Whether you’re waking up to the flu on Saturday or need stitches on a Tuesday evening, you can count on our Express Care team to treat you right.”

The clinic was designed to optimize the patient experience, from providers exclusively using iPads with patients to creating a paperless environment, which means no more long paperwork to fill out. While the clinic is designed for walk-in patients, it also offers online scheduling for patients who may have a limited window of time to visit. In addition, convenient digital kiosks allow for a quick check-in and even a quick scan of a patient’s insurance card. TV screens in each patient room give clinic staff the opportunity to view information such as x-rays with the patient. A new, modern look, free Wi-Fi and a coffee bar add to the convenient and welcoming feel of the clinic.

The Highland Village location joins two others – BRG Express Care at Bluebonnet and Dutchtown Express Care.
