Baton Rouge General Adds Colorectal Surgeon Ray “Scott” Daugherty, MD

BATON ROUGE, La. – Ray “Scott” Daugherty, Jr., MD, FACS, FASCRS has recently joined Baton Rouge General Physicians (BRGP) as a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon.

Dr. Daugherty specializes in treating all colorectal diseases, including colon cancer, rectal cancer, anal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s/Ulcerative colitis), diverticulitis, rectal prolapse, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, perirectal abscess/fistula and pilonidal disease. He offers minimally invasive treatments including robotic-assisted surgery and advanced laparoscopic procedures.

A Lafayette native, Dr. Daugherty completed his general surgery residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and his colon and rectal surgery fellowship at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans and received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University New Orleans. Dr. Daugherty is also an assistant professor of surgery at LSUHSC in New Orleans. Prior to returning to Baton Rouge, he spent two years as a clinical instructor in the Department of Surgical Oncology at University of Tennessee/West Cancer Center in Memphis.

He serves on the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons’ Young Surgeons Committee and is also involved in the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Cohn Rives Surgical Society.
