Service Spotlight: Non-Emergent Medical Transportation
Patients often need specially equipped transportation services when they
leave a hospital to go back home or to a rehab center, nursing home, or
skilled nursing facility. Based at BRG-Mid City, the organization’s
ambulance transport team employees 32 people who are able to transfer
non-emergency patients to those types of facilities when they leave the
hospital, or to bring them back to the hospital from nursing homes or
rehab centers when necessary.
“Emergency responders have an important job,” said Wilson.
“They must be quick-thinking, compassionate, and able to handle
high-stress situations. We are fortunate that we have such a dedicated
and outstanding staff at Baton Rouge General.”
