Since we re-opened our Mid City Emergency room doors on June 15, our team
has cared for more than 2,000 patients. We’ve loved being able to
bring this much needed resource back to residents in the area.
Our staff sees around 40 patients per day in the ER with both COVID and
non-COVID related issues. With the uptick in cases over the past couple
weeks, we’re making sure to keep our patients separate as they enter
the emergency department. Like the Bluebonnet ER, we offer pathways for
patients with COVID-like symptoms and those with other emergency issues.
In addition to the ER, we are also bringing back OB/GYN services back to
Mid City. Beginning in August, Dr. Jonathan Wise and nurse practitioner,
Richshell Smith will offer hours at the BRGP Obstetrics and Gynecology
clinic at Mid City. You can call (225) 381-2658 or
visit the website to schedule appointment.
We’ve also opened a specialized unit at Mid City for coronavirus
patients who need psychiatric stabilization treatment. This 32-bed unit
serves people who are medically stable – recovering from coronavirus,
experiencing mild symptoms. This unit has been a huge asset for the mental
health population in Baton Rouge, a community that is frequently underserved.
As you can see over the past few months, Mid City has expanded many services
and become a bustling healthcare hub. We are proud to care for this community
and thank you for your support!
