For Non-Emergency Care
There are some situations in which you need care, but you are not in immediate
danger. In those cases, consider an urgent care clinic or your physician’s office.
Urgent Care Centers
Urgent care centers are a convenient way to handle issues that can’t
wait for your doctor, but aren’t true emergencies. Most are open
late every day, including holidays, and can treat less severe medical
issues without the wait of an emergency room. Visit an urgent care center
for things like:
- Minor broken bones, rashes, sore throats
- Ear infections and other minor infections
- Sprains, strains, cuts with controlled bleeding
- Flu or fever

Many doctor’s offices provide a 24 hour phone line for emergencies.
If you aren’t sure whether or not your issue is an emergency, start
there. The nurse or health professional who returns your call should be
able to direct you to appropriate care.
