Bone densitometry, also called DXA or DEXA, is the established standard
for measuring bone loss using enhanced x-ray technology.
Common Uses of DEXA
Bone densitometry uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce
pictures of the inside of the body to measure bone loss, usually in the
lower spine and hips. Simple, quick and noninvasive, DEXA is commonly
used to diagnose osteoporosis and assess risk for developing fractures.
