Lymphedema & Edema Rehabilitation
We're proud to announce that Baton Rouge General is considered Baton
Rouge's only lymphedema treatment center by the
National Lymphedema Network.
Lymphedema is a condition that results from an accumulation of lymphatic
fluid that sometimes occurs after surgery or radiation treatments. It
leads to swelling of an extremity, such as an arm or leg, as well as the
head or neck. Once diagnosed with lymphedema, our patients are referred
to our lymphedema therapists, who work with them one-on-one to promote
optimal recovery, both physically and psychologically. Our therapists
provide information on post-surgical expectations, edema control, exercise
and lymphedema management.
Some of our lymphedema therapists are also certified instructors for Healthy
Steps' "Moving You to Better Health with the Lebed Method."
This fun, therapeutic exercise and movement program is open to all who
have had cancer, radiation, chemotherapy and any chronic disorders such
as lymphedema or edema.
