OBs Answer Most Googled Pregnancy Questions

Did you know September is the most popular birth month in the US? According to the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics and the U.S. Social Security Administration, mid-September is found to be the most popular time to give birth. In honor of all the soon-to-be moms, we asked two of our OB/GYNs to answer a few of the most googled pregnancy questions.

Do you have to take your birth control at the same time every day?

As long as you take one pill every day, you’ll be protected from pregnancy. You don’t have to take it at the same time every day for the pill to work, but taking it around the same time is a good idea because it helps keep you in the habit of remembering to take it. Precise timing only really matters if you take a progesterone-only pill, which are most commonly used by breastfeeding women or those who can’t take estrogen for any other reason.

Can you drink wine while pregnant?

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists says no -- no amount of wine during pregnancy is considered safe for the baby.

Do you really have to pump and dump?

As long as you haven’t had an alcoholic drink within 2 hours of a feeding there is no need to pump and dump.

Can you get rid of or prevent stretch marks?

Unfortunately, some people are more prone to stretch marks than others. However, it is a good idea to hydrate your belly with lotions and creams to prevent itching once skin does begin to stretch.

What exercises can you do during pregnancy?

Exercising can help you relax, boost energy, and prepare you for labor and delivery. And the good news is, even if you didn’t exercise before pregnancy, it’s not too late to start. But, we don’t recommend however anything with extremely high temperatures like hot yoga or saunas.
