Manship Theatre Partnership
Through a special partnership with
Baton Rouge’s Manship Theatre, the Arts in Medicine program hosts a quarterly art exhibit and “shares”
occasional artists who visit the capital city to perform.
One of our first exhibits was a collection of Hurricane Katrina-inspired
paintings based on the memories and personal experiences of our patient
and staff artists.
Katrina Remembered illustrated themes of separation, loss, hope and rebirth. Another exhibit,
Celebrate Louisiana, explored the idea of home and all the emotions it evokes --- love, family,
comfort and a sense of belonging.
For each new exhibit, Baton Rouge General hosts an opening reception that
is often paired with a Manship Theatre concert.
