Trying to get pregnant? We’re really good at keeping secrets – mum’s the word. Here are five important steps to prepare you for the healthiest pregnancy possible.

  2. Talk to your Doctor - Have a conversation with your OB/GYN about your health history, current medications, medical conditions, previous pregnancy problems and any vaccinations you may need.
  3. Stop Drinking Alcohol, Smoking, and Using Drugs - These habits can cause problems for both you and your baby, such as premature birth or birth defects. If you need help, talk with your doctor. Our Smoking Cessation program is also a great resource.
  4. Reach and Maintain a Healthy Weight - Being overweight or obese during pregnancy puts you at higher risk for serious conditions including heart disease, diabetes and complications during pregnancy. Being underweight is also risky. Strike the right balance with a healthy diet and exercise.   5. Get Mentally Fit - Mental health is the way we think, feel and act as we cope with life. Most days are better than others, but if feelings of worry, anxiety and sadness interfere with your everyday life, talk with your doctor.
