Pediatric Burn Survivor Summer Camp

Every summer, the BRG Regional Burn Center offers the opportunity for pediatric burn survivors treated at our center to attend a camp focused on providing positive social interactions for children ages 5-17 who have survived the physical and emotional trauma of burn injuries. These special campers come together for a week of canoeing, swimming, fishing and fun – all while interacting and sharing their experiences with other burn survivors.

The camp is voluntarily staffed by doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, teachers, social workers, firefighters, parents of young burn survivors, and adult burn survivors. Campers enjoy air-conditioned cabins, a pavilion, dining hall, playground, a swimming pool and much more. The camp accepts children ages 5 to 17.

Several organizations support the Baton Rouge General Foundation by raising funds to send local children to camp without any expense to their families. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW Local #995), the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC), Assurance Financial, the Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation and the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Louisiana (PFFALA) are a few of our biggest supporters.
