Before your hospital visit, it’s a good idea to get an estimate of how much your procedure will cost and what you will owe. The estimate provided is based on your health insurance coverage and the contracted rate your insurance company has with Baton Rouge General, called a contracted fee schedule.

What is a hospital charge?

Federal reporting rules require hospitals to maintain a catalog of thousands of procedure codes, code descriptions and list prices in a complex accounting tool, known as the hospital chargemaster. The prices listed on the chargemaster do not reflect what patients will ultimately pay as insurance companies negotiate discounts on the list prices. In addition, co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles can also bring additional discounts before a final charge is determined.

So how do patients know what their out of pocket costs will be? Complete the form below and one of our estimate experts will get back to you within one business day. You can also contact us at (225) 381-6276, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Disclaimer For Estimates

The information provided is a best estimate based on the information we currently have and is not a guarantee of what you will be charged or owe. Please understand that in many cases it is impossible to predict the final charges that will result as there are variables involved in your actual services such as the length of time spent in surgery or recovery, specific equipment used, supplies and medications required, additional tests required by your physician, and/or any unusual special care or unexpected conditions or complications. This estimate does not include any physician charges (e.g. office visits, surgeon fees, anesthesiologist fees, emergency room physician fees, radiologist fees, pathologist fees, or other consulting physician fees, etc.). If you have insurance, your benefits will ultimately determine the amount you owe (including deductibles, co-pay, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket maximums).
