Dr. Shaw is a very detailed and conscientious medical professional. I have enjoyed having him as my primary care doctor. This visit was extremely important to me because it was a pre-surgery visit for knee replacement. So I had a lot of questions and he had a lot of answers. I was very impressed with how he researched the knee replacement process and was prepared to guide me in the direction I needed to go. Dr. Shaw demonstrated quite some time ago that his dedication to his patients was different than what I was used to. I found Dr. Shaw by going to BR Clinic Urgent Care - at the time, my PCP was at BR Clinic - even the urgent care environment with Dr. Shaw was different than what I was used to. During that first encounter, I asked if I could be his patient, and I've been more than pleased with my decision. My last appointment affirmed why Dr. Shaw is so gifted at what he does. My conversation with Dr. Shaw lasted almost an hour, if not longer, solely because Dr. Shaw took the time to hear me out. Another comparison with my prior PCP - I don't ever recall an appointment that lasted longer than 15 minutes. Nonetheless, Dr. Shaw understands the importance of listening to his patients - not only related to what they're feeling, but what's happening in their lives, so that he can make an educated decision about what needs to happen with the individual as a whole. He isn't quick to write a prescription unless he feels you need it - when he mentions a medication to me, I don't question it because I trust him that much. Dr. Shaw is a true gem, and BRG is blessed to have him. Having a doctor that listens means the world to some folks, and I'm in that number.

Dr. Shaw has been my PCP for a long time. He even diagnosed my first heart attack! It may have been his first, also! He is so kind and thorough. He is an excellent diagnostician, and he always follows through. He is very busy, yet puts his patients first. I have never seen him preoccupied. He is always focused.

I appreciate BR General Mid City office. The staff is helpful, It may take a few days but, they try to answer your questions when you call. Dr. Shaw and his nurse (I forget her name but she noted my chart this visit) go above and beyond, from listening and actually hearing what my issues are, addressing them while encouraging me & following through. They went above and beyond when I was facing a family emergency to insure I still had the care I needed all while giving emotional support. My faith in health care is restored, I feel confident my quality of life will continue to improve under their care.

Dr. Shaw is a wonderful man in that he has always been more than the average doctor. He explains every thing and even shows me pictures on the computer. His personality is delightful and I can call and say "I need to see you " and he fits me in.
My doctor is awesome! He "knew" I was having a heart attack (thi was 12-15 years ago) sent me to Emergency room, called ahead, had heart doc with me and early the next morning I had an angiogram. I was his first heart patient he diagnosed, and he did it again several years later. His talent for diagnostics is amazing! I still see him today, he manages all my prescriptions, and really cares for his patients. I have been with him many years and he is still the smartest and kindness physician that I know. I asked him once how his referrals are always such positive and professional. He simply said, "These are the doctors I referred my parents to!!" WOW!!

The experience that I have encountered with the sign in ladies, the nurses,my primary provider and the rest of the staff has been great. As for as I am concerned Baton Rouge General is one of the best hospitals in Baton Rouge Louisiana, with great people that work there.
Dr. Shaw told me, while I was in his office, if I had any problems just to call him and let him know, but there is no way I can get in touch with him. Whenever I call, they say, well we'll give him the message but then I never hear anything back.
Dr. Shaw is a great doctor. He makes me feel comfortable that I can tell him anything. He listens and takes his time and I feel good telling him anything.
Always a great visit with my Primary Care Physician
It's always a good visit, I just wish I didn't have to wait so long, bc they give you an appointment for say 1:00 and you don't see the doctor up to 45 to an hour later, but I do NOT blame the doctor I think it's a combination of over booking, bc the doctor listens and stays with you until the Patient has been able to talk to the doctor and go over everything, he is a awesome doctor!
All of the staff were exceptional. Dr. Vincent Shaw listened, answered all my questions and was very caring and professional He is one of the best doctors that I have ever had. Excepted on this last visit the nurse that brought me back wasn't polite, she seem to have no compassion. I had my meds as I was told to bring in she didn't ask me about them. I hope that the next time that I go in to see the doctor that she isn't the one to take me back. this isn't the first bad experience that I have had with this nurse. ( I figured maybe she was having a bad day.) I did express to the doctor of her rudeness.

I have not had any bad experience with Dr. Vincent Shaw or his nurses. The problems always happen with the ladies at the check in desk. The patient have to wait until they finish their conversation with each other, telephone call or whatever they are doing on the computer instead of stopping what they are doing and sign the patient in.

it was a great experience... brought to the patients room in a very timely manner.. did not have to wait in room no more than 5-10 minutes.. before the Dr came in... answered all questions.. then was taken to lab where also no wait time till labs drawn and I was on my way out... overall great experience... will definitely go back

I would like to be able to schedule an appointment more than a month in advance so that I'll be able to plan my thing out right now. I have to call at a certain time during the month before hand to try to get an appointment for the next month. It is very half hazard is very to me unprofessional. So just make it easier to make appointments in the future.

After over 6 weeks, I am still waiting for the results from blood lab work and xrays. I have called the doctors office at least 6 times over the 6 weeks for the results of the tests and the same answer "the Dr. will call you". Yes, but when??? In the meantime, I have received the bills for the office visit, lab work and xrays. Should I even pay these if I do not know the results of these?
The only complain I had is the time, they give you an appointment say for 10 o'clock and you don't see the doctor for an hour and a half to two hours later. Other than that everything's fine.

I had to call numerous times before the receptionist answered the telephone I left a message on answering machine. I never received a call back. If I hadn't continued calling for 4 hrs I would still be waiting.

A wonderful man
Front office and back office are the worst I have ever dealt with. Apts are difficult to get as the recep. puts you on hold & forgets you. The back office (nurse) doesn't return calls or fax my pharmacy without delays (days) Dr. Shaw is the best doctor I have ever seen in my life.
I've only seen the dr twice in the 5 months. The nurses don't give messages all they should have to call more than once to get a response.
