BATON ROUGE, La.-- Baton Rouge General will host its inaugural city-wide father-daughter scavenger hunt March 7 at 2 p.m. The first event of its kind, “The Big Adventure: A Father-Daughter Scavenger Hunt,” sends dads and daughters to safely compete in a scavenger hunt against other father-daughter teams from the comfort of their own vehicles.

“Like many instances over the past year, we’ve had to think outside the box, and that included our annual father-daughter dance,” said Erik Showalter, president of the BRG Foundation. “The Big Adventure checks all the boxes for a safe, fun way for dads and daughters to spend time together, all while raising money to support our pediatric patients and programs.

From the steps of the State Capitol to Mike the Tiger’s habitat, the scavenger hunt will take participants across the Greater Baton Rouge area. Using the Goosechase app, participants earn points by completing activities and snapping photos at different stops. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams with the most points, as well as the top dad-daughter duos.

Participants can get a head start on accumulating points by hosting at-home fundraisers like bake sales or lemonade stands in advance of The Big Adventure. Each dollar raised adds 1 point to the team total. Parents can get some great ideas in our Kid-Friendly Fundraising Guide. Proceeds from The Big Adventure support pediatric services at Baton Rouge General.

Before the scavenger hunt, participants will pick up their team’s Adventure Packet at one of two drive-through pick up events. Donations from at-home fundraisers can be turned in at packet pick up. The packet will include:

  • Scavenger hunt information
  • Cotton candy tie dyed Big Adventure t-shirt for daughters
  • Drawstring camp bag
  • Snacks to bring on The Big Adventure
  • Campfire mug for Dad

Registration for single tickets ($35/each) and team packages is open. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available here or by emailing Foundation@brgeneral.org. For more information, visit brgeneral.org/adventure.
