In The Community
Creating a happier, healthier Baton Rouge.
Baton Rouge General in the Community
Baton Rouge General was built for the community, by the community. Because we are a local organization, we believe that it is part of our mission to preserve and restore health, one person at a time. People here know that we aren’t just their nearest hospital, we’re their caring neighbors and friends who strive to make our region the best it can be.
Our employees go out into the community to educate, inform, and set a positive example for those we serve. We do this through educational programs, support groups, health screenings, community health events, sponsorships, and school partnerships.
Screenings & Special Events
Every year our team participates in several events for numerous health causes, and our employees also volunteer their time for events.
We also organize several health screenings and awareness events of our own. These events include screenings and information about heart health, resources for expectant moms, and cancer screenings. We care deeply about our community, and we’re not shy about expressing it through volunteer work, supporting other healthy organizations, and inviting the community to our hospital.
Community events we participate in annually include:
- 225 Fest
- Back to school events
- Baton Rouge Pride Fest
- Live Well
- YMCA Run the Runway
Medical Zone Partnership
Baton Rouge General partners with local schools to support education, wellness, and early exposure to healthcare careers. Through hands-on learning, hospital tours, classroom support, and wellness initiatives, these partnerships help students connect what they’re learning in school to real-world opportunities in medicine and STEM, while strengthening our roots in the community.
Current school partners include:
- Park Medical Academy (Grades K–8)
- Capitol Elementary (Grades 3–6)
- Capitol High School (Grades 7-12)
