BRG Physician Group Expands Leadership Team to Support Continued Growth
BATON ROUGE, La. – As Baton Rouge General Physician Group (BRGP) continues to expand its network of physicians, specialties and patients across the Capital Region, the organization is adding a new vice president to support its continued growth.
Over the last five years, BRGP has grown by more than 50%, doubling the number of patients it cares for, adding nearly 50 new physicians, expanding into 11 new service lines and broadening access throughout the region. To support that growth, Baton Rouge General has promoted Naomi Nelson to Vice President of Baton Rouge General Physicians – Surgical and Procedural Services.
In her new role, Nelson will oversee Baton Rouge General's surgical and procedural physician practices, including surgical specialties, orthopedics, pulmonology, and ENT. She will work closely with physicians and clinic teams to strengthen operations, support continued growth and enhance the patient experience. Sean Casteel will continue to serve as BRGP’s COO and Vice President, overseeing primary care and specialty practices including OB/GYN, dermatology, sleep services and rheumatology.
"BRGP has experienced tremendous growth over the last several years, and we're continuing to invest in the leadership needed to support our physicians, our teams and our patients," said Edgardo Tenreiro, President and CEO of Baton Rouge General. "Sean and Naomi each bring complementary strengths and a deep commitment to our physicians. I'm excited to see what they'll accomplish together as we continue expanding access to specialty care across our region."
Nelson brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience and a deep understanding of physician practice operations. Throughout her career, she has served as Chief Executive Officer of Vascular Specialty Center, Heart and Vascular Service Line Administrator at Baton Rouge General, Director of Medical Staff Services and, most recently, Director of BRGP Surgical Practices. Her experience leading physician practices and building strong partnerships with providers has helped position Baton Rouge General's specialty network for continued growth.
