You’ve studied, practiced and prepared for exams, but what’s next? The transition from nursing school to real-world patient care can feel both exciting and overwhelming. That’s where Baton Rouge General’s Nurse Internship Program comes in. Designed for nursing students eager to gain hands-on experience, the program gives participants the chance to learn from experienced nurses, develop confidence at the bedside, and get a true feel for what life as an RN is really like.
Learn What Nursing Is Really Like
During the internship program you’ll practice skills you’ve only read about in textbooks and see how a healthcare team works together. Each shift gives you hands-on exposure to real hospital routines, patient interactions and clinical decision-making. By the end of your internship, you won’t just understand what nurses do, you’ll feel ready to do it yourself.
Gain Experience & Confidence
As a BRG nurse intern, you’ll work alongside experienced RNs who’ll show you what it’s like to juggle priorities, think on your feet, and care for patients with confidence and compassion. Each intern is paired with a preceptor who helps you connect what you’ve learned in class to real-life situations. It’s your chance to ask questions and grow into the nurse you’ve always wanted to be.
Your Path to a Nursing Career
Many nurse interns go on to join BRG as full-time RNs, already familiar with the team, the hospital’s systems, and the expectations of professional nursing. The internship isn’t just a learning opportunity, but it’s a career-building experience that opens the door to a strong start in nursing.
If you’re ready to take the next step toward becoming a confident, capable nurse, apply now to the BRG Nurse Internship Program. We are currently accepting applications for the summer 2026 session.
