Baton Rouge, La. – Through the tremendous generosity of employees, Baton Rouge General’s Foundation exceeded its donation goal for its 2013 You, Me & BRG Employee Giving Program with a total of $229,309 in donations which will be matched by the hospital bringing the grand total to $458,618. The program is an opportunity for employees to join together to make a financial contribution that directly impacts all aspects of the hospital – from the care provided to patients and education offered to the community – to support for employees and the further development of the General’s campuses.

“It is truly inspiring to see the incredible generosity of Baton Rouge General’s employees,” said Evelyn Hayes, MD, Interim President & CEO, Baton Rouge General. “Their contributions through the You, Me & BRG Employee Giving Program touch the lives of each and every person served by the General, and are yet another demonstration of the personal dedication of our entire team to our patients, their fellow co-workers and our community.”

One hundred percent of the funds raised through the program directly support employees, patients and their families through hospital-wide focus projects, employee-driven projects, and the employee assistance fund (EAF) which helps staff members who have experienced financial hardships or natural disasters such as fires and floods. Since the program launched in 2010, more than 70 employees have been helped through the EAF and nearly 40 projects have been supported by the funds – ranging from new equipment such as a special patient bed for the hospital’s NICU and facility enhancements such as the kid-friendly ER waiting areas at both hospital campuses.
