What is Mammography?
Mammography is a high-resolution x-ray of the breast that can detect cancer well before you notice symptoms. Annual mammograms are recommended for women age 40 and older, and for younger women who have a known increased risk of breast cancer.
We offer Saturday mammogram appointments from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. at our Baton Rouge General - Ascension Hospital.
Mammography Options
Traditional 2D Mammography
An advanced technology that allows your doctor to examine your breast tissue by taking two x-ray images from the top and side of the breast.
3D Mammography
Takes multiple images of the breast in seconds, using low x-ray energy, decreasing radiation exposure to below FDA guidelines and allowing your doctor to examine your breast tissue one layer at a time.
3D mammograms are not available at BRG Imaging & Radiology Center - O'Neal.
