About Me

Michael T. Weaver, MD, FACS, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon, has recently joined Baton Rouge General (BRG) Heart and Vascular Surgery. With over 30 years’ experience, Dr. Weaver specializes in heart valve and heart bypass surgery, and treating coronary artery disease and thoracic cancer.

Dr. Weaver received his medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, then completed a residency in general surgery, also at LSU. He then completed a fellowship in cardiopulmonary surgery at Oregon Health & Science University. He also serves as an adjunct assistant professor of clinical surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

Dr. Weaver and staff are outstanding. We have only met with each other and I have absolute confidence in his team. The next time I meet with them they will be doing a quadruple bypass on me and for them to have this kind of effect on me means that I have confidence in them.

Dr. Weaver is an outstanding physician. He explained my health issues carefully by drawing sketches so that I understood my health situation. I left with a feeling of hope in spite of a serious health condition. What I admire most about Dr. Weaver is his love of what he does that translates to his care and compassion for his patient. We were greeted nicely by the staff, and Dr. Weaver's nurse was very thorough and very kind. This was a very positive experience.
