Applications for the January 2024 semester are open July 1 - October 31, 2023.
Admission Criteria
Prerequisites
Prospective students are required to complete nine specific prerequisite college credit courses (28 credit hours):
- Must be completed with a grade of C or higher
- Overall 9-course pre-requisite GPA must be 2.7 or higher
The below college credit courses are a required part of the program of study and must be completed at an accredited college or university.
- College Algebra (3 credit hours)
- Developmental Psychology (3 credit hours)
- English Composition (3 credit hours)
- General Chemistry (3 credit hours)
- General Psychology (3 credit hours)
- Human Anatomy and Physiology I (3 credit hours)
- Human Anatomy and Physiology II (3 credit hours)
- Nutrition (3 credit hours)
- Microbiology and Laboratory (4 credit hours)
ATI TEAS Exam
Prospective students are required to complete the ATI TEAS Exam (v.7):
- Must score 65% or higher
- Students can retest three times within a calendar year at 14 to 30-day intervals to allow appropriate remediation.

How to Apply
1) Complete the School of Nursing Admissions Application
- A $50 application fee is due at time of application.
2) Submit the following items:
- Core Performance Standards for Admission and Progression - Can be uploaded on your Admissions Application.
- Performance Appraisals - Two appraisals are required and must be completed by a recent employer or instructor.
- Official high school transcript, GED test scores or a copy of your high school diploma
- Official transcripts of all previous college education

Acceptance
All submitted applications are reviewed by Baton Rouge General’s School of Nursing’s Admission and Selections Committee. Once accepted, you will be notified by email within 10 days of the application deadline and will be required to accept or decline by the deadline stated in your acceptance letter. At that time, you will receive your orientation date, health requirements and the tuition and fees schedule.
You will also be required to submit the following:- Non-refundable administrative fee of $50 by deadline stated in acceptance letter

Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN) requirements:
- Application for Approval to Enroll in Clinical Nursing Courses of the LSBN
- Required documents noted on application
- Two completed fingerprint cards
- Authorization for criminal background check
- Non-refundable fees
- Current medical history and physical (must be completed by your primary care provider)
- Proof of CDC recommended immunizations and titers for healthcare providers
- Drug test screening (Must be performed by Baton Rouge General. Scheduling information will be provided.)
