Pharmacy Residency Program
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Baton Rouge General builds on the clinical knowledge obtained during matriculation through the doctor of pharmacy curriculum to develop competent and confident clinical pharmacy practitioners responsible for medication management of all patients across the continuum of care. At the conclusion of the residency program, residents will have been fully integrated into the core patient care team and have developed clinical skill sets that will allow them to be fully engaged and have a direct impact upon clinical patient outcomes. They also will be eligible for board certifications, and post graduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
The Pharmacy Residency Program is Baton Rouge General's newest medical educational program and will be seeking accreditation after the first residency year. Baton Rouge General has been a teaching hospital since 1991. With several campuses and the opportunity to treat patients of all ages, medical conditions and varying socioeconomic backgrounds, our health system provides an ideal setting for aspiring pharmacists, doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals.
