BATON ROUGE, La. – Baton Rouge General (BRG) will host its annual Mammos & More event on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. The popular screening event includes a 3D mammogram and clinical breast exam, plus mimosas, live music and an exclusive pop-up jewelry bar by Forever Lillies, where attendees can create their own permanent bracelet. Guests will also snag a goodie bag and have a chance to win door prizes.
Mammos & More is part of BRG’s Protect Your Pumpkins campaign, promoting annual mammograms for women 40 and over, and is sponsored by Ambetter. The event is open to women 40+ who have not had a mammogram in the past year. Registration is $25 and services will not be filed with insurance.
Women in the U.S. have a 1-in-8 lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer. And, 85% of women diagnosed with the disease have no family history. Mammograms can help find or detect breast cancer early, even before a lump can be felt. Annual mammograms are recommended for women ages 40 and older or earlier if they have a higher risk of breast cancer.
