About Me

Dr. Tuan Tran is an advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgeon specializing in bariatric and general surgery. Using minimally invasive techniques, he is able to treat inguinal hernias, abdominal wall hernias, gastroesophageal reflux disease, gallbladders, colon diseases, and perform weight loss surgery. 

Dr. Tran completed his general surgery residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and then underwent a rigorous Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship in Florida at AdventHealth Tampa. While in fellowship, he focused primarily on performing gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional bariatric surgery particularly converting sleeve gastrectomy to gastric bypass.

A New Iberia native, Dr. Tran completed his undergraduate degree at LSU in Baton Rouge and earned his medical degree at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. 

A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Tran is also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Everything went really well. The doctor was really nice, respectful, bedside manners and everything. I really enjoyed the experience with him. That was my first time seeing him for an emergency procedure that I had to get done, but everything went over well. And if I had to, hopefully I won't, but if I have to, I would definitely use him and recommend him.

Very pleasant atmosphere and the Provider was awesome. He even asked me did I have any questions for him. To be given the opportunity to ask the Provider questions really meant a lot to me. I was given the pros and cons of having the cholecystectomy that cleared up a lot of issues I was debating on. Overall happy with my initial visit.

It was my first time to visit this office. I was treated with kindness and respect. I was given paperwork to have bloodwork and other testing done and even completed that in record time next door at the hospital. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating.

Pre op was wonderful. Everyone was competent and kind. Post op was exactly the opposite. While coming out of anesthesia and sobbing in pain I was ordered "don't rub your eyes." And "your pain isn't meant to be a zero"

Dr Tran is very supportive, and he spends time with me to.make sure I had all what I needed to have a healthy surgery. His staff from the front office to the nurse has always been very kind and nice as well. Dr Tran visit me four to five times through your my week long hospital stay. He continued to encourage me and this helped me start to feel better to go home. As being discharged he made sure I had everything I needed at home to feel comfortable and at ease. Dr Tran truly loves his work and he loves working with people. He has always keep a smile the entire time of my visits. I have nothing but great words for him when taking to other doctors about my surgery. I could not have close a better surgery team in helping me

If the doctor can get me in for a medical procedure sooner, get it approved by my health insurance so that I can have better health, be in better health, and be able to get this drastic weight off so that I can feel healthier and live healthier and be healthier and to work alongside, you know, with the doctor's office, you know, on behalf of anything while I wait for the procedure to get approved by the insurance company because this procedure is very important to me as I move forward in my life.
