Description of Trial:

Study Purpose

Heart Sense is conducting a no-cost research study to determine the prevalence of aortic valve disease in Baton Rouge and the surrounding communities.

Participation

Over the course of a 12-month period, heart screening events will be held at a variety of locations (participating physician offices, hospitals, ERs, etc.) and times for the convenience of participants.

Number of Visits:

Participants will attend 1 screening event at a participating Heart Sense event or location.

Procedures at Screening Event:

• Collection of demographic (age, race, ethnicity, etc.) and symptom information
• Physical exam to listen to sounds from the heart, lungs and other organs
• Screening ultrasound to see how your heart is beating and pumping blood

Qualification

To qualify for this research study, participants should be 60 years of age or older.

Duration

Participation in the study will last approximately 30 minutes.
