to the south for good. After graduating from the University of North Carolina,
he traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana where he earned his medical degree
and a Master of Science in Anatomy from Tulane University School of Medicine.
He went on to complete an internship, residencies, fellowship, research,

and thoracic surgery) at the University of Alabama.
Dr. Breitkreutz has published research on a variety of topics including
blood clotting, mechanics of blood flow, and heart muscle ischemia which
has enabled him to provide the best care for his patients. He was in private
practice in Texas for twenty years before returning to Louisiana for a
second and final time in 2014. Certified by the American Board of Surgery
and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Breitkreutz is presently
a Clinical Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at Tulane. His professional
