About This Event

Kindergarten, Here I Come is a six-session class designed to provide your child with the skills necessary for school success and is geared toward first-time kindergartners and those being promoted to first grade seeking a retention review. Our Speech-Language and Occupational Therapy integrated curriculum addresses the following areas:
- Sound awareness activities including identification of syllables in words, deletion and substitution of sounds in words, and blending of sounds to produce words.
- Letter recognition & letter-sound recognition integrated into song play, obstacle course, relay, and treasure hunt activities.
- Tactile play to create letters, numbers, and shapes using different media.
- Fine motor activities to promote tripod grasp.
- Practice writing letters, numbers, & words.
- Listening activities using different mediums.
- Auditory and visual processing activities.
- Basic science and math concept activities.
- Calendar activities
- Safety awareness tasks (phone number and address recall, stranger safety)
