BRG Foundation Announces Changes to Board of Governors

Scott Kirkpatrick named chair, new members added

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Baton Rouge General Foundation recently announced that Scott Kirkpatrick has been named chair of its Board of Governors. Kirkpatrick has served on the board since 2015 and is also an ex officio member of BRG’s Board of Trustees.

KirkpatrickKirkpatrick is an attorney at Roedel Parson's Baton Rouge office, where he is a lobbyist on state issues. Among other clients, Kirkpatrick represents the Association of Levee Boards of Louisiana, American Traffic Solutions and Louisiana Notary Association. Kirkpatrick received his B.A. in Government and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from Louisiana State University.

The BRG Foundation also announced two new members of its Board of Governors: Laura Parr and Jim Purgerson, Jr. Both members were elected to serve a three-year term beginning January 1.

Laura Parr Parr is the incoming President of the BRG Auxiliary Board. In addition to her involvement with the BRG Auxiliary/Volunteer Services, she volunteers for various community organizations including the LSU Greater Baton Rouge Alumni Association, LSU Campus Club, and Newcomer/Encore Club of Baton Rouge. After graduating with a B.S. in Medical Record Science from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Parr worked as director of medical records at hospitals in Louisiana and beyond.

Laura Parr Purgerson Purgerson is Senior Vice President and Senior Lending Officer of Citizens Bank & Trust Company. He serves on the bank’s Board of Directors and holds the Certified Commercial Investment Member designation conferred by the CCIM Institute of the National Association of REALTORS®. Purgerson serves on the Board of Directors of Coastal Conservation Association – Louisiana and the Louisiana Real Estate Appraisers Board, while also acting as president of the Mystic Krewe of Achilles of Baton Rouge and chair of the Parish Finance Council of Our Lady of Mercy Church.
