BATON ROUGE, La. – Baton Rouge General will host a July 17 Lunch and Learn event about processed foods and how they are affecting your health.

“Processed foods like crackers and chips, deli meats and frozen meals are convenient, but they usually contain hidden sugar, sodium, trans-fats, additives and preservatives,” said Kristen West, registered dietitian at Baton Rouge General’s Health and Wellness Center. “Eating these foods can negatively affect your health -- leaving you feeling sluggish or with digestive issues.”

During the lunch and learn, West will share details on the types of processed foods and their ingredients, the benefits of cutting down on them, and how to make better food choices.

The noon event will be held at BRG’s Bluebonnet campus, with lunch provided. The event is free, and registration is required.
