BATON ROUGE, La. – Baton Rouge General Physicians (BRGP) announced changes to its executive leadership today. Sean Casteel, who has served as BRGP’s Administrative Director since 2016, has been promoted to Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Casteel, who has been with BRGP for more than six years, joined the organization as a practice administrator at Baton Rouge Family. While he began his career as a SWAT team police officer in Hammond, he moved into healthcare 15 years ago and worked in the Louisiana Department of Health before joining North Oaks Health System as the Assistant VP of Surgery.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Casteel has been on the forefront of patient care, implementing new processes to ensure patient and employee safety at BRGP’s primary care and specialty clinics, while also managing regular day-to-day operations and the opening of two new clinics.

“In his time at BRGP, Sean has overseen a tremendous amount of growth,” said President and CEO Edgardo Tenreiro. “He has been instrumental in helping us expand as well as recruit new physicians for the hospital.”
