What Should I Do if I Think I Have Coronavirus?

What Should I Do if I Think I Have Coronavirus?

If you begin developing symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately. If you need a doctor, call Baton Rouge General Physicians at (225) 763-4500. Do not go to your health care provider or hospital without calling first. If you are sick with COVID-19 or suspect you are infected with the virus stay at home except to get medical care.

The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell

If you do have symptoms, wear a facemask when you are around other people (e.g., sharing a room or vehicle) or pets and before you enter a healthcare provider’s office. This will help protect others from getting infected. At home, isolate yourself in a separate room and use a separate bathroom when possible.
