Baton Rouge General Teams Up with A.C. Lewis, Pennington YMCA for Drive-up Flu Shots

BATON ROUGE, La. – Baton Rouge General Physicians (BRGP) is teaming up with the YMCA to bring drive-up flu shot events to the community. Staff from BRGP’s Family Health Center will administer the vaccine at the A.C. Lewis YMCA in Mid City on December 2 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and BRGP’s O’Neal Clinic staff will be at the C.B. Pennington Jr. YMCA on December 9 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Ages 3 and up are welcome, and flu shots are free with most insurances. Non-insurance payment options are also available. Please bring a valid photo ID and insurance card, and remember to wear a mask. Free coffee will be available to those receiving flu shots.

BRG hosted drive-up flu events last month at the Americana YMCA, courtesy of BRG’s Zachary family medicine clinic. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop and provide protection against the flu.
