Baton Rouge General Offering Weekend Mammograms at Ascension Hospital

BATON ROUGE, La. – Baton Rouge General (BRG) will begin offering screening mammograms on Saturdays at its Ascension hospital in Prairieville, beginning April 24. The Ascension hospital offers 3D mammograms, which use state-of-the-art technology to detect potential cancers earlier and with less radiation exposure.

“We know that life is busy, and weekdays don’t always work for every woman,” said Dr. Candace Moore, an OB/GYN at Baton Rouge General. “Many women have put off important screenings like mammograms in the past year because of COVID-19 and a fear of coming to the hospital, and we want to help them easily get back on track.”

BRG offers mammography at four locations – Ascension, Bluebonnet, Mid City and O’Neal Lane. Annual mammograms are recommended for women 40 and older, and for younger women who have a known increased risk of breast cancer.

The Ascension hospital is located at 14105 Hwy. 73 in Prairieville. In addition to imaging services, it features a 24/7 emergency room, primary care and OB/GYN services, physical therapy, and lab services. For more information or to schedule a mammogram, click here or call (225) 763-4631.
