With COVID cases on the rise in our area, hospitals are seeing the highest number of patients they have seen since April of last year. On Wednesday, August 4, Baton Rouge General welcomed more than 100 additional staff members including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and CNAs to help care for the current wave of COVID patients. As the region’s designated surge hospital, this added staff will help Mid City open up 90 floor beds and 20 ICU beds and care for an additional 110 patients. We are grateful to have them as part of our team. #MidCityStrong

New Primary Care Physician at Mid City
Baton Rouge General is proud to welcome Dr. Ubaid Abbasi to Medical Associates of Baton Rouge located at BRG Mid City. Dr. Abbasi completed his residency training at BRG’s Family Medicine Residency Program and earned a doctorate degree from Saba University, School of Medicine and an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from McNeese State University. As chief resident in BRG’s Family Medicine Residency Program, he was awarded the Gerald R. Gehringer Award for his outstanding leadership and scholarly accomplishments.
