BATON ROUGE, La. -- Melanie McKnight, MD, a hospitalist at Baton Rouge General, will participate in an opioid webinar hosted by Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 2-3:30 p.m.

The webinar, “Sharing Solutions: Businesses Combat the Opioid Crisis,” addresses the idea that substance misuse disorder has as much of an effect in the workplace as the home. It will include speakers from the national perspective as well as Louisiana-based business and hospital leaders, each speaking on their experiences, initiatives and ideas that have been successful, as well as how COVID-19 has impacted the opioid crisis.

Dr. McKnight, a member of the hospital’s Controlled Substance Committee, earned her Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. She completed her residency at University Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. McKnight completed a fellowship in Rheumatology at Hospital Bichat in Paris, France and a fellowship in Nephrology at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
