Baton Rouge General Opens Residential Center for Substance Use Disorder in Mid City

BATON ROUGE, La.– Today, Baton Rouge General (BRG) announced the opening of Baton Rouge Recovery Health, a residential center aimed to provide inpatient treatment for the adult male population struggling with substance use disorder. Located at 933 North Foster Dr., the 16-bed residential treatment center is newly renovated and located on beautiful, serene grounds lined with oak trees. It provides comprehensive 28-day treatment in a safe, comfortable, home-like environment.

“Behavioral health care is one of our community’s biggest challenges, and our goal is to continue to serve Baton Rouge by offering this critical and often difficult care,” said Edgardo Tenreiro, BRG’s CEO. “This residential center treating substance use disorder is just one of the ways we are helping to fill the void in the needed support for mental health.”

Baton Rouge Recovery Health’s structured treatment program provides a supportive environment of recovery and health for those committed to actively participating in the process. As a residential treatment center, it provides a space for those with an addiction to focus on their sobriety, away from all the things in life that are stressors.

Treatment includes both group and individual therapy with residents working through the 12-Step Program, as well as time for self-reflection and personal assignments. Education is also an important component of a successful treatment program, as many people don’t realize the full extent of both the mental and physical processes of addiction.

Baton Rouge Recovery Health complements BRG’s existing behavioral health services, which includes inpatient and outpatient treatment for adults ages 18 and older. BRG opened Louisiana’s first chemical dependency unit in 1976, at a time when addiction disorder was a relatively new medical diagnosis.

Baton Rouge Recovery Health is a joint venture with Lifeline Behavioral Health Systems. For more information, call (225) 381-2541 or visit brgeneral.org/recoveryhealth.
