BATON ROUGE, La. - The Baton Rouge General Foundation recently secured a large art donation from the estate of renowned artist Mari Lyons, who left behind hundreds of paintings and drawings from her long career. The donation includes 351 pieces valued at approximately $326,000.

Various pieces from Lyons’ collection were curated by BRG’s Arts in Medicine program for placement around Baton Rouge General, from large, framed pieces outside the cafeteria and inside the Women’s Center to smaller works on paper that can be used in clinics and offices throughout the hospital system.

Lyons maintained two studios in New York and her work was featured in various museum collections, exhibitions and selected private collections. She worked regularly in charcoal, pastel, and oil and in a variety of genres – still life, cityscape, studio interior, landscape, portrait, self-portrait, abstraction, and figure.
