How to Apply

Baton Rouge General's Family Medicine Residency uses the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). We will only accept electronic applications.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Family Medicine Residency Program must have completed and submitted the following through ERAS:

• Three letters of recommendation from faculty or practitioners with whom you have worked and who can comment on your personal and professional qualifications. One letter should come from a family physician who can directly address your potential ability to become a family physician.
• An application with a Personal Statement
• USMLE/Comlex 1 and 2 dates and scores
• Dean's letter
• Transcript
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)

If applicable, please address the following points:

• Prior participation in a residency program
• Current or prior medical licensure in any state
• Current or prior suspension or revocation of licensure
• Current or prior participation in biomedical research that has resulted in a publication or presentation
• Current or prior interruptions in your medical education
• Any aspect of your candidacy that might limit your ability to carry out the requirements of the house staff position within the time frame of the program
• Plans to participate in the couples match

U.S. Graduates

• Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S.
• Significant clinical experience in a primary care setting in the U.S.
• Have a U.S. mailing address
• Time out of medical school cannot exceed 1 year

International Medical Graduates

• Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S.
• Be ECFMG certified when applying if you have already graduated from medical school. If you're currently in medical school, you must have your ECFMG certification to start the program.
• Significant clinical experience in a primary care setting in the U.S.
• Have a U.S. mailing address
• Time out of medical school cannot exceed 1 year
