Baton Rouge General Physicians Expands Family, Sports Medicine Services in Mid City

BATON ROUGE, La. – Anthony Johnson II, MD, has recently joined Baton Rouge General Physicians (BRGP) as a family medicine and sports medicine physician. Dr. Johnson will take care of patients at BRGP’s Primary Care Group clinic in Mid City, located at 5353 Florida Blvd.

Dr. Johnson earned his undergraduate degree from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, a Master of Business Administration from Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio, and his medical degree from the American University of Antigua in Coolidge, Antigua. He completed his residency training at the University of Alabama Family Medicine Residency Program where he served as chief resident. He also completed a sports medicine fellowship at Baton Rouge General’s Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.

Dr. Johnson promotes an active and healthy lifestyle through numerous athletic activities such as cycling and recreational basketball. A strong advocate for the medically underserved, he is also a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Sports Medicine, and the American College of Physicians.
