Whether you are pregnant or not, smoking is bad for your health. But smoking while you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant can also cause serious health problems. If you're trying to get pregnant, smoking can make it harder, and if you smoke while pregnant, you are more likely to experience complications during pregnancy.
Smoking can cause complications during your pregnancy, such as:
- Miscarriage
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Placental abruption
- Placenta previa
- Preeclampsia
- Preterm birth
Quitting smoking isn't easy but quitting before you are pregnant is the best way to help your baby get a healthier start.
