How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in the Baton Rouge General Sports Medicine
Fellowship Program! Applications for the fellowship program are accepted
through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS).
The Sports Medicine Fellowship Program runs from August 1 – July
31. Applications for the fellowship program are accepted August 1 –
November 30. Interviews are scheduled one day per week during the months
of October and November. The fellowship participates in the National Residency
Match Program (NRMP). Rank lists are entered in early to mid-December
and Match occurs in early January.
Admission Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States
- Evidence of completion or the anticipated date of graduation from an ACGME
accredited residency program in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal
Medicine, Pediatrics or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- A valid ECFMG certificate (if you graduated from medical school outside
of the United States)
- Must be eligible to be licensed in the State of Louisiana
- Completion of the fellowship application

Letter from your program director outlining the following:
- In-service board exam scores
- Sports medicine experience and how the resident demonstrated a commitment
to learning and applying the principles of sports medicine to actual day
to day care of patients
- List of all rotations/curriculum that has been completed
- Professionalism of the resident and the ability of the resident to effectively
interact with other members of the sports medicine team
- Probationary actions or any interrupted time during residency
- One reference letter from a Sports Medicine Physician with whom the resident
has trained
- One reference letter from a primary care physician in the applicants prospective specialty
- Step scores including number of attempts
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
