Diversity & Inclusion Council

The Diversity and Inclusion Council serves as a forum for identifying, prioritizing and addressing potentially divisive issues to ensure Baton Rouge General, as an organization, is representing its diverse employee base as we create our strategies, brand, and policies.

Membership

Members are selected by the co-chairs and vetted through BRG’s leadership team. It includes a range of managers, directors and employees from both our Mid City and Bluebonnet campus. Currently, there are 18 members on the Council.


Goals

The hospital’s Diversity and Inclusion Council promotes and supports diversity in these key areas:

  • Workforce: Recruiting a diverse workforce that is sensitive to and inclusive of people’s differences, and educating staff on working with diverse team members and caring for diverse patient populations
  • Community health: Working with a wide variety of groups and individuals in the community to improve people’s health and access to care
  • Business partners: Doing business with diverse vendors and suppliers
  • Patient experience: Providing an excellent patient experience by understanding patient diversity and meeting the needs of the many different people the hospital serves
