Diversity & Inclusion Council

At Baton Rouge General, we are proud of our diverse team and patient base, and our commitment to diversity and inclusion remains a core part of our care, strategies, brand, and policies. We are proud to care for all patients regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or economic background.

We identify, prioritize, and address key issues to foster innovative actions that deliver equitable health care and create an inclusive work environment that celebrates the contributions of all employees.

Goals

The hospital’s Diversity and Inclusion Council promotes and supports diversity and inclusion in these key areas:

  • Patient Experience: Providing an excellent patient experience by understanding patient diversity and meeting the needs of the many different people the hospital serves
  • Workforce: Recruiting a diverse workforce that is sensitive to and inclusive of people’s differences and educating staff on working with diverse team members and caring for diverse patient populations
  • Community Health: Working with a wide variety of groups and individuals in the community to improve people’s health and access to care
  • Business Partners: Doing business with diverse vendors and suppliers
